Nursing Resources I’ve Used

So, here are some resources that saved me in nursing school and early on in my career. I owe these people. Their content got me through the NCLEX. They helped me understand concepts I just could not grasp no matter how much I read...…

The guy From Simple Nursing was a Godsend, I checked him out recently, he came a long way and seems to be doing quite well. I was rocking with this guy when he was posting on YouTube with his old fashion white board and dried up markers. He had videos for everything you will encounter as an RN and as a Nursing student. He makes difficult concepts so easy to remember. His breakdown on ABGs, and Fluids I still remember to this day.  Check him out!

Next is TootRN. Her YouTube videos saved my life. Especially if your a visual learner like myself. She had these amazing visuals that made learning Pathology of common diseases so easy. Her Short and Sweet Content Review on  You Tube deserves a look. Short and Sweet Content Review.

This person name Gail Lupica on You Tube  Gail Lupica, I stumbled on when I first stated in ICU. She made learning the different Ventilator settings so easy to understand. She has some great videos for a new RN in critical care. It helped me out tremendously. Maybe it will help you out as well.

Okay I think we all have at some point in our lives ran across Khan Academy. Listen textbook are not for everyone in Nursing School. They sure made for good arm rest for me. Reading textbooks just did nothing for me. I would fall asleep, and pages would be filled with drool hahaha! khanacademymedicine has everything a healthcare professional or student needs to succeed. Again if your a visual learner this guy is for you!

2024 Am I Burnt Out Yet?

So Am I a Burnt out Nurse? As a nurse, I have experienced the versatility that this profession offers, from working different hours to choosing various specialties. However, I have come to realize that while I still enjoy my specialty and working with my coworkers, I also crave a more balanced life. In 2022, I made the decision to try travel nursing. It was an incredible experience. I had the flexibility of working three 12-hour night shifts, which allowed me to have more personal time. The financial benefits were also significant, as I was able to earn almost triple my usual earnings. But it wasn't just about the money; it was about the time I gained for myself and my loved ones. During the COVID pandemic and its aftermath, travel nursing changed me. It provided a work-life balance like no other, allowing me to prioritize my mental health, spend quality time with my children, and explore travel opportunities. I became happier, financially secure, and my morale reached an all-time h

How can you take care of your patient if you are not taking care of yourself?

Last May.....                 I hit my breaking point which ultimately led to me being out of work for 3 months before being able to return. I had all the warning signs leading up to this. Going through personal issues at home, worrying about finances, kids, lack of time, and total disregard for my mental health.  As Nurses I find that we get so immersed in solving every problem, putting out every fire, and we neglect our mental health. We neglect personal care, we work through breaks, we barley touch our water bottles. We jump to every patient and we multi-task and make time for everything but ourselves.  We spend most of our time at work with our peers and patients. Even more so than our own families.  We have to find a balance.. I wish I did. Back in May, things came crashing down for me, I wont get into all the details but I thought I was Superman. Impervious to bullets, stronger than sleep, and fixer of all things. The warning signs were there.. My energy was low at work, I was g
